Comment | Synonymy mainly after COGGER 1983. Lerista microtis arenicola STORR 1971 has been elevated to species status. Limb morphology: 5 digits, 5 toes |
Etymology | Presumably named after the Greek mikros (small) plus otos (ear), referring to the small ear size of Lerista species. The species was first described in the genus Mocoa, the other species of which had larger ear apertures. (G. Shea, pers. comm., 9 Feb 2024) |
