Comment | Synonymy: Langstroth 2021 considered Liolaemus pleopholis Laurent 1998 a species inquirenda allied with L. lenzi. He “would not hesitate to place Liolaemus pleopholis Laurent 1998 in the synonymy of L. lenzi, however, such as decision would be contradicted by the mtDNA-informed phylogenetic estimate of Aguilar-Puntriano et al. Etymology | Named after the large number and fragmented scales, “pleopholis” meaning “more scales”, from Greek pleos = full, pleon = more, and Greek pholis (φολίς) = scale. |
