Etymology“La designación septentrionalis se hace en consideración de la distribución geográfica septentrional de la nueva subespecie, que constituye, hasta ahora, el límite más boreal conocido para Liolaemus pictus.” (PINCHEIRA-DONOSO & NUNEZ 2005)
