Diagnosis
CommentSynonymy: Leiolaemus Bellii [sic] GRAY 1845 has been synonymized with Liolaemus bibronii and L. bellii neuquensis called L. altissimus neuquensis in PETERS & DONOSO-BARROS 1970: 180. MÜLLER and HELLMICH (1933) considered Proctotretus modestus (PHILIPPI 1860) as a synonym of Liolaemus altissimus. Liolaemus bellii moradoensis HELLMICH 1950 has been elevated to full species status.

Distribution: not listed for Argentina fide AVILA et al. 2010, Lista de las lagartijas y anfisbaenas de Argentina. Reports from Argentina are most likely based on L. neuquensis and L. araucaniensis which were considered as subspecies of L. bellii previously.

Taxonomy: Liolaemus bellii araucaniensis MÜLLER & HELLMICH 1932 and Liolaemus (bellii) neuquensis have been elevated to full species status.
EtymologyNamed after Thomas Bell (1792 – 1880), British zoologist.
