Syntype: USNM 5525 [Proctotretus femoratus] 
CommentSynonymy after Peters et al. 1970 and BOULENGER 1885.

Type locality: "Valparaiso".

Original description: “The dorsal scales form 25 rows and the belly scales 33 rows. Forehead with six pairs of con- secutive enlarged scales. Drawing: Above warts light brown, with a black spot above the upper arm and on the sides with two long white lines and two rows of black and brown spots” (Gravenhorst 1838: 73; cited after Borczyk 2013).
