CommentSynonymy: NUNEZ 1992 synonymized L. puritamensis with L. dorbignyi, but resurrected by  PINCHEIRA-DONOSO & NÚÑEZ 2005, a decision accepted by LOBO et al. 2010. Troncoso-Palacio (2014) concludes that Liolaemus puritamensis Nuñez and Fox, 1989 and L. filiorum Pincheira-Donoso & Ramirez, 2005 are conspecific. However, this was challenged by Pincheira-Donoso 2014 and rebutted again by Troncoso-Palacios 2015.

Common name (filiorum): S: Lagartija de los hijos; E: Son’s lizard. L. filiorum was named after Ramirez-Leyton’s sons, Marcelo and Alvaro. Latin “filius” = son.
