Type locality: vicinity of Nabire, Cenderawasih Bay, elevation 3 m.  
TypesHolotype: BPBM 3380; paratype: ZMB 
Commentexternal ear opening present; 24–26 mid- body scale rows; 20–21 lamellae under toe IV; broad brownish dorsal band terminates at tail-base, where it forms a dark tip; and pale dorsal stripes absent (from DAS & AUSTIN 2007). 
EtymologyThe specific name occidentalis (Latin) refers to the western distribution of this species.
