CommentType species: Loxocemus bicolor COPE 1861: 77 is the type species of the genus Loxocemus COPE 1861. 
EtymologyFrom latin words bis and color meaning two colored in allusion to its coloration.

The genus was named after Greek loxos (λοξός), slanting + Greek kemos (κημός), muzzle. ["...Muzzle prominent, obliquely truncate…"].
