Diagnosis | Diagnosis (n=1): This species differs from its congeners except dumerili in the following combination of characters: 17 rows of midbody scales; dorsals smooth; more than 100 subcaudals; dorsal light cross-bands evident throughout body and tail, less than 20 on the body, less than 15 on the tail. From L. dumerili it differs in having: 10 supralabials (IV-VI entering eye) instead of 9 (IV-V); dorsals reducing to 15 at the level of ventral 119 instead of those of ventrals 131-145; body and tail with dark annuli (at least in the only specimen known, a juvenile) (Fig. 2) instead of dorsal dark cross-bands which, in juveniles as well, never encroach entirely on the adjoining ventrals (Fig. 3); internasal suture seemingly longer, its length corresponding to 34.4% of that of the prefrontal suture (21.1-32.8% in L. dumerili).
