EtymologyThe specific name (Lycodon flavicollis) is derived from the Latin flavus (= yellow) and collare (collar) and refers to the presence of prominent yellow collar of this species, which is distinct from all other Lycodon species reported so far from the Western Ghats. The epithet is formed in the masculine to match the gender of the generic name Lycodon.
