Type locality: Thononda Peak (22°52’S, 30°13’E), Venda district, northern Transvaal (now Limpopo Province).

CommentDistribution: see map in Jacobsen 1992: 535 (Fig. 2). 
EtymologyApparently named after the type locality which is close to the Soutpansberg area (Transvaal)
