Comment | Synonymy: Typhlops albanalis has been considered as a synonym of T. ocularis (by HAHN 1980 and others) but considered as a valid species by V. Wallach (cited in McDiarmid et al. 1999). T. albanalis is probably not from Madagascar and thus probably not a valid species (V. Wallach, pers. comm.). However, PYRON & WALLACH 2014 recognized Lemuriatyphlops albanalis as valid and included it in Lemuriatyphlops based on 20 dorsal scale rows lacking reduction (Rendahl 1918). See PYRON & WALLACH 2014: 55 for a discussion. Given its unknown provenance we keep it within ocularis for the time being.
Habitat: rainforest areas of low and mid-altitude |
