Diagnosis | Diagnosis: A subspecies of D. exiguus characterized by large size (male to 428 mm, females to 438 mm snout-vent length), high number of ventrals (145 to 165 in males, 146 to 161 in females), ventrals 4 subcaudals high (233 to 269 in males, 233 to 252 in females), dorsum usually with much dark brown spotting in the dorsal zone, nuchal stripe prominent and long, ventral angulate markings usually present and bold, venter heavily stippled or blotched, at times very darkly so, and loreals always present.
