Type locality: Bastos Farm on Río Alegre, Headwaters of Río Guaporé, western Mato Grosso, Brazil.

CommentType Species: Mabuya guaporicola Dunn, 1936:549. is the type species of the genus Manciola HEDGES & CONN 2012.

Phylogenetics. The molecular phylogeny (Fig. 5 in HEDGES & CONN 2012) does not clearly establish the relationship of this genus to others. 
EtymologyThe generic name (Manciola) is a feminine, Latin, noun meaning small hand, in reference to the relatively small hands and feet in these skinks.
