DistributionIran (Tehran Province: Alborz Mountains)

Type locality: Hochtal von Lar (2180-2900 m elevation), süd-westliche des Demavend-Gipfels im Elburs-Gebirge, nordöstlich von Teheran, Iran.  
Reproduction(ovo-) viparous. 
TypesHolotype: SMF 62585 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: “Eine ziemlich schlanke, bis 75 cm lange Art der Gattung Vipera, mit raddei am nächsten verwandt und wie diese durch einen geschlossenen Schuppenting um das Auge gekennzeichnet. Die Zahl der Ventralia jedoch gering (156-169 statt 168-185), die Grundfarbe hellgraubraun und die Rückenzeichnung, die auch völlig fehlen kann, aus einem dunklen, aber verloschenen Flecken- oder Zickzackband oder einer schmalen Vertebrallinie bestehend.” (Mertens et al. 1967)
