DiagnosisDiagnosis: Distinguished from other species of Python by having keeled dorsal scales (Smith 1981)

CommentAbundance: very rare; from 1981 to 2007 only about 10 specimens have been found (Mattison 2007).

Habitat: partly arboreal (Harrington et al. 2018). 
EtymologyNamed after Latin “carinatus” = keeled (like a ship).
