Comment	Abundance: only known from the type locality (Meiri et al. 2017).
Etymology	Deraniyagala states: “hickanala is the Sinhala equivalent for Mabuya” – in other words, just a Sinhalese name for a skink (there is no specific morphological similarity of this snake-like skink with any Mabuya species)
