TypesNeotype: AMS R21601 (1884 Oedura tryoni De Vis; designated by Bustard 1966). Holotype originally in QM (lost).

EtymologyNamed after Henry Tryon (1856-1943), an English scientist. He abandoned medicine in favor of natural science, particularly botany and entomology.
