Limbs: hindlimbs only (reduced).

Type Species: Pygopus striatus SPIX 1824 is the type species of the genus Ophiodes WAGLER 1828.

Distribution: Not corrected for the split of O. striatus and O. fragilis. Not in Argentina fide AVILA et al. 2010.
