Diagnosis | Diagnosis: A species of the genus Opisthotropis, characterized by the combination of the following characters: (1) nasal not (completely) divided below nostril; (2) 1 – 2 loreals, not in contact with internasals; (3) 1 preocular; 2 postoculars; 1 subocular; (4) 2 anterior and 3 – 4 posterior temporals; (5) existence of an additional scale, that is sur rounded by the lower anterior temporal, the lower postocular, subocular, and two supralabials; (6) 8 – 9 supralabials, 0 or 5th in contact with eye, 5 – 6 right below the eye; (7) 9 – 10 infralabials; (8) f irst pair of chin shields longer than the second pair; (9) dorsal scales smooth anteriorly, keeled posteriorly; in 1917-17 rows; (10) 4 pre- and 171 ventrals; precloacal divided; 49 þ divided subcaudals; (11) uniform dark olive grey dorsum, with a dark longitudinal lateral stripe amidst the dark dorsal colouration; ventral side pale, only tip of the subcaudal region with dark mottling. |
