Type locality: Kina Balu, elevation: 4200 feet, North-Borneo  
Reproductionoviparous (not imputed, fide Zimin et al. 2022) 
TypesType: BMNH 1946.1.7.8 (and possibly additional specimens). 
Diagnosis 
CommentType species: Oreocalamus hanitschi BOULENGER 1899: 453 is the type species of the genus Oreocalamus BOULENGER 1899. 
EtymologyNamed after Dr. Karl Richard Hanitsch (1860-1940), a German biologist who became Director, Raffies Library and Museum, Singapore (1895-1919).
