TypesHolotype: ZMB 708 (for both wiemanni and bivittata, see DENZER et al. 1997, who state that both WAGLER and WIEGMANN described the same specimen). 
DiagnosisDiagnosis (genus): (1) presence of large, well-developed dewlap in mature males
(2) absence of clavicular pit anterior to shoulder (= antehumeral pit), fide Srikanthan et al. 2021: 212.

Abundance: Common in Sri Lanka (BAHIR & SURASINGHE 2005).

Type species: Otocryptis wiegmanni WAGLER 1830 is the type species of the genus Otocryptis WAGLER 1830.

Distribution: after the separation of Otocryptis beddomii into a separate genus, Agasthyagama, the genus Otocryptis is restricted to Sri Lanka. For a map see Srikanthan et al. 2021: 213 (Fig. 2).
