Diagnosis 
CommentLOVERIDGE 1947 (and WERMUTH 1965) synonymized P. capensis oculatus with P. maculatus.

Type not in South Africa fide SAMA catalog (Anonymous 1958). 
EtymologyNamed after Latin oculatus, having eyes. ["...Above light brown with four series of elongate oval blotches along the back and neck…"].
