DistributionSW Angola, NW Republic of South Africa, N Namibia (S Damaraland)

Type locality: Kowaris (Kowares), Kaokoveld, Southwest-Africa.

CommentEspecially young animals have a characteristic white (or yellow) band with dark borders on the dorsal side of their neck.

Subspecies: Pachydactylus scutatus angolensis LOVERIDGE 1944 and Pachydactylus scutatus robertsi FITZSIMONS 1938 have been elevated to species status by BAUER et al. 2006.
