Type locality: Valle de Bao, 1800 m, Cordillera Central (road to Pico Duarte), Santiago Province, República Dominicana (19.0833, -71.0333; 1800 m).

TypesHolotype: USNM 197299, adult male. Originally Museo Nacional de Historia Natural, Santo Domingo (MNHNSD) 163.
Paratypes. MNHNSD 162, Albert Schwartz Field Series (ASFS) V23962-65, same data as holotype; collection of Sixto J. Inchaustegui (SJI) 427-28, MNHNSD 211-19, same locality and collector as holotype, 5-6 January 1971; MNHNSD 220, Rio, Baito, +/- 1500 m, Santiago Province, Republica Dominicana, S. J. Inchaustegui, 6 January 1971.

EtymologyNamed after Dr. Eugenio de Jesu Marcano Fondeur of the Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo “who organized the two expeditions and also sponsored them, and who invited the junior author to become a member of the parties”.
