Type locality: Nossi Bé, Madgascar.

marojejyensis: NE Madagascar; Type locality: Forest of the mountain range of Marojejy, in the north-east of Madagascar.

Holotype: MNHN-RA 1982.1220, Collected by: Charles P. Blanc [within the framework of the Cooperative Research on program 22 5 (RCP 225)]. Collection Date: November-December 1972 [marojejyensis] 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: A Pararhadinaea with a divided nasal, a rectangular-shaped preocular, 2 postoculars, and 5 dark longitudinal lines on the body.

CommentType species: Pararhadinaea melanogaster BOETTGER 1898 is the type species of the genus Pararhadinaea BOETTGER 1898. 
EtymologyNamed after Latin, from Ancient Greek, mélas = “black” + gastḗr = “belly”, meaning "having a black belly."; a reference to mainly black ventral scales.

The subspecies epithet, marojejyensis, is a reference to type locality [mountain range of Marojejy in the north-east of Madagascar]
