Type locality: Mt. Banahao, Laguna Province, S Luzon; Quezon Province, Municipality of tayabas fide BROWN et al. 2010.

DiagnosisDiagnosis: A species of Sphenomorphus, distin- guished by the following combination of characters: (1) body size large, sVL 57.8–72.9; (2) prefrontals moderate, separate; (3) frontoparietals fused; (4) labials 6–7; (5) large supraoculars 4; (6) paravertebrals 88–102; (7) midven- trals 38–43; (8) scales around midbody 38–42; (9) fourth toe lamellae 18–21; (10) dorsal coloration medium to dark brown with evenly-spaced round white spots, with or without a pair of wavy, black, dorsolateral stripes on trunk; (11) ventrolateral surfaces of neck and head brown or black with black labials, each with a white spot; (12) a prominent inverted acutely triangular marking present above forelimb insertion; and (13) ventrum bright gold- en-yellow in life [from BROWN et al. 2010].
 
CommentDistribution: Reports from SE Mindanao are likely misidentifications and most likely represent Sphenomorphus diwata (SUPSUP et al. 2017). 
EtymologyNamed after Henry Otley Beyer (1883-1966), an American ethnologist who spent much ofhis career in the Philippines. He was one ofthe founders ofthe Department of Anthropology, University of the Philippines (1914) and later head of that department (1925).
