CommentDiet: insectivorous.

Type species: Eremias burchelli DUMÉRIL & BIBRON 1839: 303 is the type species of the genus Pedioplanis FITZINGER 1843.

Key: Parrinha et al. 2021:42 provide a key to the species of Pedioplanis. 
EtymologyNamed after WiIliam John Burchell (1781-1863), an explorer and naturalist. He went to the Cape of Good Hope (1810) and undertook a major exploration of the interior of South Africa (1811-1815). He committed suicide.
