Type locality: Quanzhou, Xingan, Guanyang, Ziyuan, Lingchuan counties in Guangxi; Dongan, Qiyang, Daoxian in Hunan.  
Reproductionoviparous. 
TypesHolotype: GXUA (probably; given as Endangered Species Protection Research Centre, Guangxi Agricultural University #95012 (now: Guangxi University); no acronym provided. 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: The diagnostic morphological features of adults of all five Pelodiscus species are summarized in Table 4 in FARKAS et al. 2019: 78. 
CommentSynonymy: This species was suspected to be a synonym of Pelodiscus sinensis (FRITZ & OBST 1999). However, Yang et al. (2011) argued that it is a valid species, although they did not provide a revised diagnosis. Hence the status of the species remains a bit unclear.

Habitat: freshwater (rivers and tributaries, swamps)
