TypesHolotype: GNM ? or the Zoological Museum of the University of Stockholm (not provided by Kaudern but he referred to the collection described by Andersson 1910, which is in Stockholm). 
Diagnosis 
CommentMember of the Phelsuma guttata (phenetic) group (GLAW, VENCES & ZIEGLER 1999).

Variation: Phelsuma guttata is a highly variable species. See photos in Mohan et al. 2019. 
Etymologynamed after its dorsal drop-shaped (actually irregular) red and black spots (Latin “gutta” = drop).
