Diagnosis 
CommentPhelsuma breviceps has fragile skin, a probable predator escape mechanism, similar to the condition found in geckos of the genera Ailuronyx and Geckolepis. Member of the Phelsuma mutabilis (phenetic) group (GLAW, VENCES & ZIEGLER 1999). Illustration in Akeret (2003). 
EtymologyNamed after Latin “brevis, -e” = short and “-ceps”, a short form of “caput” = head.
