CommentThe type of Prionodactylus ocellifer seems to be lost (BAUER & GÜNTHER 1994). 
EtymologyNamed after Latin affinis, related, akin, connected. [In the characterization of the subgenus Aspidolaemus, “...Mit Pholidobolus übereinstimmend durch die Beschildung der Kehle, mit Ecpleopus durch die Anwesenheit von Nasofrontalschildern, von beiden verschieden durch die glatte Beschaffenheit und quadranguläre oder trapezoidale Gestalt der Rük kenschuppen...“ (from Esteban Lavilla, pers. comm., May 2024)
