Type locality: restricted to "Dschungaria orientalis" [= Junggar Basin, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China].  
Reproductionoviparous. 
TypesLectotype: ZISP 6637.1 (designated by Peters, 1984: 37) 
Diagnosis 
CommentGolubev (1993) gives a description of P. v. hispida and P. v. doriai.

Synonymy partly after BARABANOV & ANANJEVA (2007) who consider doriai and hispidus as synonyms of versicolor (and thus recognize only 2 subspecies: versicolor and kulagini). However, Dunayev et al. 2021 revalidated hispidus. Ganbold et al. consider it as a subspecies of versicolor.
