Type locality: Galapagos Inseln [Ecuador]; restricted to “Indefatigable” by Lanza 1982.

Diagnosis 
CommentSynonymy: partly after Wermuth 1965: 135.

Subspecies: Phyllodactylus galapagensis maresi LANZA 1973 has been elevated to full species by Arteaga et al. 2019. 
EtymologyNamed after the Galapagos Islands. The subspecies maresi is named after its type locality. P. g. olschkii was named after Lanza’s friend Allesandro Olschki, an Italian publisher and president of the “Gruppo Ricerche Scientifiche Tecnichc Subacquee" of Florence, and former member of the Executive Committee of the World Federation of Underwater Activities.
