DistributionIndia (Andhra Pradesh [Kapilatheertham, Nagarjuna Hills and Seshachalam Hills], Karnataka [Bellary], Tamil Nadu [Hosur Hills, Gingee Hills and Villupuram], Telangana [Hyderabad, Nalgonda])

Type locality: Nagarjuna hills (16° 31’ N, 79‚ 14 E), Andhra Pradesh.  
TypesHolotype: ZSI 21337, male; female paratypes (ZSI 21335 and ZSI 21336) 
CommentDiagnosis: Supralabials 9; loreal 1, preocular 1-2, postocular 2, subpostocular 1 or absent, temporal 2+2 or 2+3; 19 mid body rows; ventral 201-212, anal divided; subcaudal 105-121, paired.

Comparison: This species is taxonomically distinct from its allopatric sister species Coluber gracilis Günther, 1862 by having 19 mid body rows, rostral two times broader than height, posterior body completely patternlesslate brown dorsum with dull yellow bars. by checking no loreal contact with internasal and rn Ghats and an.
