Type locality: Green Island (also known as Ludao, Lyudao, or Lutao), “Nanliao, Lutao Island (= Kshoto in old nomenclature), Taitong Hsien, Taiwan”.  
Reproductionoviparous. 
TypesHolotype: OMNH R 2811 (Osaka Museum of Natural History), hatchling; paratypes: OMNH, Taiwan Museum (TM), KUZ 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: Plestiodon leucostictus is clearly distinct from the other subspecies of P. chinensis in having a white-spotted dorsal pattern in juveniles, in addition to some scutellation differences such as a higher number of scale rows around midbody, and the usual presence of postnasal (Hikida 1988). 
Comment 
EtymologyNamed after the Greek words leuco (λευκο) = white, and Greek stiktos (στικτός), punctured, spotted.
