Etymology | Named after Dr. Henry A. Ford, a medical missionary in Gabon, who collected natural history specimens for the Philadelphia Academy of Natural Sciences (1851). The genus was named after Greek poros (πόρος), pore + Greek meros (μηρός), thigh. [“…Femoral pores…”]. |
