Diagnosis
CommentSynonymy: MAHONY 2010 synonymized Japalura kaulbacki with Calotes kingdonwardi. He also treted bapoensis as a synonym of kingdonwardi, given that “the English extract of the original description does not provide any characters that differ from P. kingdonwardi”.

The taxonomic status of C. k. bapoensis should be assessed relative to P. kingdonwardi new comb. as redefined here. If it is found to represent a valid species, then it should be referred to as Pseudocalotes bapoensis (Yang & Su, 1979) new comb.” [from MAHONY 2010].
EtymologyNamed after the collector, Captain Kingdon-Ward (1885–1956).
