Type locality: Madagascar (unknown locality)

TypesHolotype: lost (destroyed furing World War II) 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: A Pseudoxyrhopus with 21 dorsal scale rows at midbody; bluntly rounded snout; 8 supralabials; anterior subcaudals undivided, posterior subcaudals divided; supralabials and rostral with white spots, which are sometimes partly fused to form a thin broken line; body coloration dark brown (from RAXWORTHY & NUSSBAUM 1994). 
CommentHomalocephalus suppressed by ICZN. Year has been reported as 1893. Günther (1881) stated that Homolocephalus is pre-occupied by the dipteran genus Homolocephala.
