Comment | Psilophthalmus is thought to be related to Nothobachia. Type species: Psilophthalmus paeminosus RODRIGUES 1991 is the type species of the genus Psilophthalmus RODRIGUES 1991. Psilophthalmus is preoccupied by Psilophthalmus Szépligeti 1902 (Hymenoptera, Braconidae), hence Rodrigues et al. 2017 suggested the replacement name Psilops with Psilops paeminosus as type species for the genus Psilops Rodrigues et al. 2017. |
Etymology | The genus is named after Greek psilo (naked) and ops (eye). The previous name was also coined after Greek opthalmos = eye, face. |
