Type locality: Marajó Island, Pará, Brazil.

Diagnosis 
CommentThe species of Psomophis are most likely to be confused with species of the "Rhadinaea" brevirostris group (sensu Myers). Psomophis genimaculata has been removed from synonymy with P. joberti by MYERS & CADLE 1994.

Distribution: Not in Paraguay where it is replaced by Psomophis genimaculatus (fide Cacciali et al. 2016). See map in Nogueira et al. 2019. 
EtymologyNamed after Dr. C. Jobert, a French zoologist and collector of plants and fish in Brazil.
