Type locality: “Liukiu-Inseln, angeblich von Yaeyama auf Mijakoshima, Südgruppe”.

DiagnosisDiagnosis: Scales in 17 rows, smooth excepting on the posterior fourth of the body where they show a faint keel at the base on middle scale rows; ventrals 159-164; anal divided; subcaudals 47-64. (Maki 1931)

CommentThis species is classified as “near threatened” in Japan (Ota 2000).

Boettger (1895) does not explain the derivation of this species’ name.

Habitat: partly arboreal (Harrington et al. 2018). 
EtymologyNamed after Boettger’s wife, Hermine Boettger.
