Type locality: Telouet, Imi n´Tahout, Morocco.

TypesLectotype: MNHN-RA 1916.0039, designated by Arnold 1990, who found that one of the syntypes (MNHN-RA 1916.0037) is Q. trachyblepharus. Paralectotypes: MNHN-RA 1916.0035-0041 and MNHN-RA 1916.0042 exchanged with British Museum in 1917: 4 males, 4 females. 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: Usually 23 or 22 presacral vertebrae (86% of cases, n =50); proximal autotomic caudal vertebrae with very short transverse processes (Fig. 2); first upper labial scale not reaching nostril and not fused to lower postnasal scale (Fig. 1); cloacal tubercles usually small, or absent; little sexual dichromatism; often fairly uniform above with small pale and darker spots which are not especially dense on flanks; frequently one to three light spots in shoulder region, which are sometimes transversely expanded and each border a dark spot immediately in front of them to produce an ocellus; dark colouring on posterior underside of males often extending to lower hind limbs. CommentSynonymy: Listed as synonym of Quedenfeldtia trachyblepharus by WERMUTH 1965 (following LOVERIDGE 1947). 
EtymologyNamed after Max Quedenfeldt (1851-1891), German naturalist who mainly worked on beetles.
