Etymology | Named after the collector of the type, Dr. D. Elden Beck, Assistant Professor of Zoology and Entomology at Dixie College, St. George, Utah (1934-1937) and Brigham Young University (1937-1943 and 1946-). Beck was trained at Brigham Young University and received a PhD from Iowa State College (1933). He was a member of the US armed forces from 1943 to 1946.
