Comment | Synonymy: chihuahuaensis has been considered as a synonym of humilis, but synonymized with segrega by Lemos-Espinal and Smith (2007) and Flores-Villela et al. 2022. |
Etymology | The specific name is a Latin word segrego meaning "separate," and was applied to the population in western Texas, which was isolated from other populations of Rena humilis, as then understood (LEMOS-ESPINAL & DIXON 2013). |
