| Types | Holotype: MTSN 5592, Adult male in the MUSE, the Science Museum of Trento, collected in the Mamiwa Kisara North Forest Reserve on the 25th of January 2004 by Michele Menegon (Fig. 11 and Table S2). Paratypes: One adult female – MTSN 5593 from same locality as the holotype. Four adult males – MHNG 2624.47, MHNG 2624.56, MHNG 2624.49, MHNG 2624.50 and two adult females – MHNG 2624.48, MHNG 2624.57 collected by Jean Mariaux in Ikwamba Forest Reserve (-6.3453; 36.9770) on 4–5th May 2002. |

| Etymology | This species is named after Nicola Colangelo, an entrepreneur and industrialist who worked in Tanzania for most of his life. He supported conservation initiatives and organisations, and before many others argued for the sustainable utilisation of natural resources. He was passionate about conservation for its intrinsic importance but also for a sustainable development of economies, such as low impact tourism activities. |
