cochranae: Type Locality: Mt. Zempoaltepec, 8,000 ft., Oaxaca, Mexico.

cupreus: highlands of C Oaxaca. Type locality: Oaxaca. Restricted to Mount Zempoaltepec by SMITH & TAYLOR 1950.

CommentStatus: unclear, not recognized in most museum collections according to WIENS et al. 2013. 
EtymologyThe Latin adjective cupreus means "coppery," and refers to the rusty dorsal color on some males.
