DistributionMexico (S Michoacan, through Guerrero and Morelos, S Puebla, to N/W Oaxaca, México [HR 31: 185])

Type locality: Mezquititlan, north of Chilpancingo, Guerrero.

TypesSyntypes: BMNH 1946.8.30.11-12 (formerly 1906.6.1.164-165), collected by Hans Gadow. 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: Smith 1939: 373. 
CommentDiet: a large percentage of the diet of this species (30-50%) consists of ants (Lucas et al. 2023). 
EtymologyThis species is named for Mr. Hans Gadow, the collector of the types.
