Distribution | Republic of South Africa (coastal plain of N Natal), S Mozambique; only known from the vicinity of Durban (BAUER 2016). Type locality: “arid regions in the interior of South Africa” (probably in error for Port Natal fide BROADLEY 1994). |

Diagnosis | Diagnosis: Broadley 1994: 253. Diagnosis: Midbody scale rows 20-22; ventrals 102-108; subcaudals 93-97; supraoculars 4; supraciliaries 6, rarely 7; no postnasal; supralabials anterior to subocu1ar 3; no ear opening; no trace of a hindlimb bud, although a rudimentary femur is present internally (Raynaud et al. 1975); palatines in short contact. (Lynn Raw, pers. comm. 27 Apr 2022) Coloration: Paravertebral scale rows pale brown, flanking scale row on each side pale brown, each with a small dark spot, then 4 lateral scale rows on each side with a large dark spot; ventrum pale, uniform on chin and sometimes throat, rest of ventrals and subcaudals each with a dark median spot.
