Abundance: only known from the type locality (Meiri et al. 2017). 
EtymologyNamed after William W. Sommer, an entomologist at the Allyn Museum of Entomology, Sarasota, Florida (now part of the University of Florida). He and Graham collected together in Haiti (1978).
